New MOB boat davit

"Siem Pilot" update week 25

23.06.17: Work continues onboard "Siem Pilot".

In realation to installation of fire-fighting equipment all discharge piping arrangements have been installed. Fire-fighting pumps have been installed in engine room and fi-fi monitors along with deluge nozzles has been installed at top of bridge deck.

Construction work with platform for MOB boat davit has been completed.

Painting of vessels hull into company colors has commenced.

The vessel, which was built to serve offshore oil platforms, wound up being chartered to the Norwegian government as its contribution to the EU’s refugee rescue and border patrol effort known as Frontex. Newspaper Stavanger Aftenblad reported that the Siem Pilot picked up 34,278 people fleeing Northern Africa in rickety boats or overfilled inflatable rafts. 

Simek was awarded the contract of carrying out maintenance work and upgrades of the supply vessel, before it sets it course towards Canada, entering a contract with Secunda Canada. The vessel will be used for towing of ice bergs, stand-by rescue operations and supplying oil rigs outside the coast of Newfoundland. 


23.06.17: Arbeidet fortsetter ombord på "Siem Pilot".

I forhold til arbeidet med installering av brannslokkingsutstyr, er følgende fullført:


  • Alle rørsystemer har blitt installert og plassert.
  • Vannpumper er blitt installert i maskinrommet, under havnivå.
  • Fundament for vannkanoner er installert på toppen av brodekket.


Ellers er arbeidet med plattform for en ny MOB båt davit nær ferdigstillelse. 

Arbeidet med å male fartøyets skrog om til ny rederifarge er godt i gang.
